Start with the plush format
A factory cannot quote accurately from a vague plush idea. Buyers should define size, fabric, fill, embroidery, printing, accessories, labels and packaging before comparing suppliers.
For character plush, the artwork route matters. Front, side and back references reduce interpretation issues and help suppliers understand shape, expression and construction.
Understand MOQ and sample cost
Custom plush often starts around 500 to 1,000 units per design, but the real MOQ depends on materials, size, complexity, factory schedule and packaging.
Sample fees are normal. A good sample process should allow feedback on stitching, stuffing, fabric handfeel, embroidery, color and label placement before production.
Check safety and destination market needs
Products sold as toys may need testing such as EN 71, ASTM F963, CPSIA or local equivalents. Requirements depend on market, age grading and materials.
Buyers should discuss testing early because it affects supplier choice, production timing, labeling and total landed cost.
